7 detained at Heathrow for fighting on Biman flight

Heathrow Airport authorities have detained seven passengers on charges of assault on a London-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Sylhet. Biman’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal confirmed the matter to the media.

The incident took place on Wednesday on a direct flight from Sylhet to London. However, it was not immediately possible to know the identity of the seven passengers. A video of the incident has recently gone viral on social media. In the video, one of the passengers of the flight is seen hurling abuse while two female passengers fight.

Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal told the media: “The incident took place when one passenger’s leg hit another sitting in front of him. Sadly, some passengers of the plane have caused such an unfortunate incident.”

He said the flight landed at Heathrow Airport following standard operational procedures. The cabin crews then informed the concerned authorities and identified those involved in the incident.

Later, authorities at Heathrow Airport detained the six passengers involved in the incident. He also said appropriate legal actions have been taken against the accused.
