Saudi Arabia has shown positive interest in large-scale investment in Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral trade relations. The country wants to invest in various sectors including power, energy, tourism and infrastructure. At the same time, the Middle Eastern country is emphasizing direct shipping between Chittagong and Jeddah.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs on Monday, June 27. Saudi Ambassador Isa Youssef Isa Al Duhailan discussed the issue in a meeting with Shahriar Alam.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Saudi ambassador thanked the Bangladesh government for the successful completion of the Padma Bridge and said that Saudi Arabia was interested in enhancing trade and investment, culture, education and tourism.
According to the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Saudi Arabia has also expressed interest in building a railway from Dhaka to Pigeon Port under a public-private partnership and developing Cox’s Bazar as an international tourist destination.
Expressing satisfaction over the close ties between the two countries, the Minister of State for External Affairs thanked the pilgrims for completing the pre-travel process at Dhaka Airport.
